Step 1:

Draw a circle using a soup or cereal bowl then dip wet cut squares of modroc and place inside the circle.

Build the layers up to make a textured surface.

Step 2:

Use black tissue paper and lay over a wet background with PVA and water with a brush or sponge.

Step 3:

Use small bits of purple tissue paper too and other colours if wanted to overlap the black to show other colours in space.

Step 4:

Paint darker circles and areas on the moon with watercolour and brush or sponge to show craters. This gives a tonal effect of the craters on the moon surface.

Step 5:

To finish - draw a line around the moon to sharpen the outline with a thick black pen.

To finish you could put sparkles in space to make space sparkle with stars.
