What resources are needed?:

• 2 different colour cards for background, 3 cut out trees on black card, 1 large cut out tree on orange and yellow card.

• Use off cut yellow card for the owl and bat. Off cut black card for the cat.

• We’ll be overlapping the tree shapes and drawing wood effects on the tress, Then we’ll draw on the features and features of the owl, bat and cat.

Step 1: Draw out 3 trees in white pen pr pencil on black card and cut out leaving a space around the outline.

Draw a mountain scene on purple colour card and cut out for the background. Put this onto a full piece of A4 red card.

Templates for the black trees:

3 cut outs are recommended so there is a choice with 4:

Print these out on white paper, but once cut use the shapes to cut the black paper/card.

Step 2: Put PVA glue on back of 3 black trees after cutting these out and place onto the background with stumps about an inch from the base.

Step 3: Draw a spooky tree with black pen, cut out orange tree in the same way. Place to the left and glue on.

Print on white paper, cut the the paper template and use this to cut the black card.

Step 4: Draw out a spooky tree using black pen on yellow card, and 2 branches going left and right that look like arms.

Then paste and stick down to the right of the orange tree.

Step 5: Draw and cut characters out: owl, cat and bat the size of an adult finger. Position in place on the yellow tree with the owl sat on the right side branch, the bat on the left side branch, and the black cat at the base of the yellow tree.

Step 6: Paste the owl shape shown here.

Step 7: Draw a circle out of yellow card for the moon, and paste on to the background at the top left.

Step 8: Draw feather features on orange card and cut out and paste onto owl.

Step 9: Last tasks- draw on wood textures and eyes using black pen, as well as clouds effects in the sky and any other feature wanted on the scene.

Draw on the spiders cob webs and any other feature wanted with white pen or pencil.

Also add ‘eyes’ in the trees with white one or pencil.
